Double wins for Tanner Foust in Seattle Rockstar Energy Drink driver heads into season finale chasing title
MONROE, Washington (September 10, 2017) - Rockstar Energy Drink driver Tanner Foust took a pair of victories in this weekend's Global Rallycross Championship doubleheader in the heart of the Pacific Northwest.

"I'm so happy right now," said Foust on Sunday after chalking up his third and fourth wins of the season at Evergreen Speedway just outside Seattle. "After such a tough weekend last month in Atlantic City, it feels great to deliver victory to the team. They've put this car back together so many times and these wins feel like a reward to all of us for all that hard work."

With strong heat and semifinal performances and a pair of race wins over three days of competition, the driver fought his Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen Beetle to second in the points, behind Volkswagen Andretti teammate Scott Speed. The championship title is within reach as the series heads into a hometown round in Los Angeles next month.

Although the points battle is between teammates, Foust said he and Speed won't pull any punches when it comes to the final race of the year.

"At some point, it gets to the point when it can hurt both cars and ultimately we have learned it's good for both of us if we don't take each other out," said Foust. "We're still going to race each other hard and it just comes down to being a little bit heads up."

The pair of victories this weekend add to his wins tally in this region. He won the rallycross round held at this track last season, and has also scored Formula Drift series victories at Evergreen Speedway. The oval track, located about a half-hour outside Seattle, is a popular venue for action motorsport and draws enthusiastic crowds.

Foust has landed on the podium in seven races so far this season. He is a two-time series champion and holds the record for most career podiums in Global Rallycross.

Full coverage of all 12 rounds of the 2017 Global Rallycross Championship airs on NBC. The Sunday race was pre-empted for breaking network news coverage and is set to air later this week.

In addition to the battle for the 2017 title, Foust is also facing another Global Rallycross Championship competition. Voting to determine the series' Fan Favorite driver is now open. Fans can vote once per hour from now until the season finale for their favorite driver. Fans have awarded Foust the Fan Favorite honor each year since it was established in 2013.

Rallycross is an action-packed blend of circuit racing, off-road racing and rally. Drivers line up in heats of up to 10 cars for hard-hitting competition over a challenging short course featuring jumps, unbanked turns, hills and transitions between pavement and gravel.
